Diesel Truck Mechanic

We are looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic who takes pride in their work, loves solving tough problems, and wants to work in a professional, top-tier shop.
What We Are Looking For
- Engine Knowledge: You should know how diesel engines work inside and out. It’s a plus if you have experience with brands like Cummins, John Deere, or Mitsubishi.
- Computer Skills: You are comfortable using modern technology and diagnostic tools.
- Strength: You are physically fit and able to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Work Ethic: You are organized, pay attention to the little things, and talk clearly with your team.
- The Basics: You have a valid CDL Class B license and know how to use all the standard shop tools.
Manual Machinist
The Manual Machinist operates under direct supervision to skillfully weld, machine, cut, and shape metal parts using various welding and machinist equipment. This role supports a medium team of 6-15 members and is involved in new equipment fabrication, repairs, maintenance, and diverse projects requiring precision metalworking. The machinist utilizes standard machine shop tools including manual lathes, drill presses, milling machines, and band saws, traveling 10-30% of the time to support work at different locations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare objects for welding by preheating, cleaning, positioning, and clamping parts
- Design, repair, and fabricate machine components as required
- Maintain and repair pumps, motors, shafts, rudders, and utility equipment systems
- Perform electric arc, MIG, TIG, and acetylene welding on various equipment and structures
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and job specifications
- Maintain, clean, and repair welding and machinist equipment
- Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces
- Operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and band saws to shape parts
- Inspect, measure, and test completed parts for defects and conformance to specifications
- Perform record keeping and inspection related to equipment maintenance
- Travel as required to perform duties in various locations (10-30% travel)
Required Qualifications
- Technical school graduate or equivalent apprenticeship
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and electric arc welding
- Experience operating lathe, milling machine, drill press, and related machinist hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job specifications
- Sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform heavy lifting and manual tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience at the journey level in welding and machining
Field Generator Technician
Mike’s, Inc. is searching for a field generator technician. We are the Hipower Power Generation Distributorship for the Southern Illinois and Missouri Region. We have one position available for Generator Technicians to meet expanding customer needs. Mike’s offers competitive pay based upon skill and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, service repairs and load bank testing on generators in the shop and in the field.
- Technician must furnish a complete set of tools.
- Have a basic knowledge of common Power Generation products including diesel and natural gas engines, alternators and automatic transfer switches.
Role:
- Complete preventative maintenance, inspection and service repairs on generators, diesel and natural gas / liquid petroleum engines and automatic transfer switches.
- Continually build good customer relationships and representation of Mike’s Inc.
- Maintain a clean work environment, on the job and at the shop.
- Maintain clean vehicles including regular vehicle maintenance (oil changes, tires, repairs, etc.).
- Adhere to company safety practices and other policies and procedures.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Welder
We are seeking a Welder to become an integral part of our team! The Welder will use specialized equipment to weld and assemble new metal forms. Pay rate is based upon skill level and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and fabricate finished metal products
- Install and repair various equipment and components
- Follow blueprints to meet product specifications
- Calculate material measurements to verify specifications
- Conduct tests to evaluate weld quality and tolerance
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in welding, manufacturing, or other related fields
- Familiarity with welding tools and procedures
- Familiarity with engineering blueprints and schematics
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Ability to perform stick welds
- Familiarity with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding
Tool Room/General Maintenance Attendant
Are you looking for a hands-on role in a family-owned business that values expertise and dedication? Mike’s Inc. is seeking a Tool Room / General Maintenance Worker to join our team in South Roxana, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Weigh, roll and store welding rods
- Inventory and ordering
- Reports reasons for discrepancies in inventory or tool and product usage
- Receives, unpacks, store incoming tools, equipment and replenishes inventory
- Perform other duties requested or required by management
- Pick up or deliver parts/equipment, steel, general shipyard inventory
- Inspects tools and equipment for defects and wear, reports damage to supervisor/ manager
- Repairs services and lubricates tools, equipment, using hand tools, pressurized spray can, cleaning products
- Deliver tools and equipment to designated areas manually using hand truck or fork lift or extend teller
- Mark and Identify tools and equipment
- Clean fill and deliver Water, cups and Ice to work flats/docks
- Fill and rotate fuel cans in flammable lockers
- Keeps storage areas organized and clean
- Occasional work performed alone
- Occasional use of chemicals
- Frequent loud work preformed
- Frequent work performed around others
- Constant work performed in different weather conditions
- Shovel snow, use snow plow, use of atv
- Frequent use of manual dexterity
- Frequent use of hearing, speech range, and site.
- Frequent use of eye, hearing head protection and proper P.P.E. required
- Locates and stores tools from work flat and dock areas
- Light maintenance and use of tools and equipment
- General housekeeping in storage rooms and dock area
- Use of 2-way radio
- Ride Wing Wall, turn valves & operate winches
- Clean, sweep, mop, empty trash in break room, bathroom, locker rooms, offices clean refrigerators
- Pick up scrap and trash up and down dock and work flats
- Use blower on work flats and dock area
- Pick up ice and water
Qualifications:
- Valid Drivers Licence
- High School diploma and/or GED
- Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 75 LBS
